LSSaver 1.3 Release!
Also, this new version fixes a bug that may stuck the downloading process. In some cases, the embedded iframe, flash contents(scripts) may cause LSSaver stops working, the fix is somewhat "dirty", LSSaver will remove any iframe and script in the posts, as a result, they won't appear in the saved file.
Finally, some performance enhancement has been done in this new release. The blog titles are loaded faster now thanks to a totally new mechanism. However, the preview and save still takes many time if you have many posts. The speed depends on the network conditions and the contents in your posts. For a content heavy blog (many pictures), the average speed for preview is about 3-5 posts per minutes. So if you have 1000+ posts to download, it may take up to 5 hours to load! Worst, saving them takes even longer. So, do think about downloading them separately.

What’s new in the LSSaver next release?
LSSaver is initially created to satisfy my personal needs, it is basically tested with several LiveSpace blogs and it works quite well on these small to medium-sized blogs. However, when it comes to a blog with lots of posts and the posts contain lot of pictures, flash or other special tag such as iframe, the performance is seriously degraded. One has to wait for very very long for LSSaver to load all the blogs and sometimes, LSSaver will never be able to load all blogs because there is not enough memory.
In the next release, these problems will be addressed. You will be able to select a starting month and a ending month and load only the blog posts between these two values. This will give you the flexibility to save your blog part by part, which is more efficient and you will have less chance to run out of memory.

LSSaver 1.2 Release!
One of the major fixes is that now LSSaver is able to retrieve all posts in one month but are separated into more than one page.
Another major fix is that when there are special scripts in the blog posts, they may trigger the IE script error dialog. While LSSaver can still working, it is annoying, so they are suppressed in this release.
Hope this new version of LSSaver helps you better!

Live Space migrates to Wordpress!
This effectively means that Windows Live Space will no longer exist in several months!
You will have several options which include of course, to migrate immediately or decide to do the migration later, and most of all, you will have the opportunity to save your blogs to your local disk, which does the same as our LSSaver. However, LSSaver does better :D So, you have one more option to save your Live Space blogs.
If you decided to migrate, by clicking on the continue button, you will be prompted to enter the Wordpress account and password to login or login with your windows live ID if you do not have a Wordpress account yet.
Suppose you do not have a Wordpress account and you clicked on the Connect button, you will need to log on with your Window Live ID, then you will create a Wordpress account, like these:
Then you will have the chance to select a name and a title for your Wordpress blog or just keep the same as that for your Live Space.
After you click on the Signup button, the migration will start and after a while, if everything goes OK, you will receive three emails in your box with important information about your Wordpress account.
So it means that your Live Space is migrated successfully to Wordpress. Take a look at your new blog, which, I have to say, is much better!
Finally, it’s sad to say that, as Live Space will disappear eventually, LSSaver will die with it together.
Goodbye!

New LSSaver 1.1 Release!
Sunday, August 15, 2010
Features planned in the next release of LSSaver.
One important thing is to support older .NET platforms, for example, .NET 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. This will let more people be able to use the LSSaver.
Another feature is a more friendly GUI. Currently, for example, when getting the blog index, there is no indication of when the operation ends, same for the Save button. So in the next release, I will add progress bar or dialog indicating when an operation ends.
There is another planned enhancement on the blog preview, that is, currently the display refreshes regularly when getting the blogs. This makes preview during the get very difficult. I will try to let fix the display even the content in the preview is updated, letting the users be able to stay at a certain place.
So with the next version, LSSaver will be able to serve more people in a more friendly way.
